Alexander/ Mujungu - 16 years

1st grade secondary school (Five Star High School). Mujungu’s parents could not manage to cover the schooling costs for their four children. Therefore, they are supported by our foundation. Mujungu is actually called Alexander, but he is called Mujungu ("white") because he was fascinated by a white man he met when he was a very little boy. “Finishing Primary school was my dream and now I dream of finishing secondary school also and go to the next level. Life is good in secondary school and I think all children should enjoy it but read hard. Thank you everyone for supporting us.”

Grace - 14 years

7th grade Kashanda Primary School. “First of all, I want to say that I am very happy to join boarding school. When Covid came, I knew all hope was gone because of social distance and closing of schools but I studied very hard during home schooling in lockdown for a promotion and my wish was granted, We are now busy preparing to sit for our final exams and next year we will be secondary school students, Please wish us luck and thank you very much for supporting us, I am only looking at scoring a first grade so I can join a good school for secondary.” When she was young Grace used to say: “I don’t like school holidays and staying home. I love my school and I enjoy going to school every school day non-stop.”

Brian - 14 years

6th grade Kashanda Primary School. Brian has been living with his Aunt Molly after his father passed away. Brian was not happy they closed school because of corona, but thanks to the classes we could arrange at home he did not miss a year. “I am happy to have been promoted to primary 6 regardless of Covid situation. I must perfom well and join boarding section next year in primary 7. I now have one year to go and also join secondary school. Thank you.”

Aggrey - 14 years

6th grade Kashanda Primary School. Aggrey has always been very eager to learn to speak English and he is proud that he managed to become fluent in English. “For me, only thinking about going away from home to boarding school makes me very happy. I will do that next year. I promise to continue working hard. Thank you very much for your support”. Aggrey’s parents could not manage to pay school fees for their four children. Therefore, the foundation supports them to go to school.”

Benjamin - 13 years

4th grade Kashanda Primary school. Anderson repeated 3rd grade and still finds it difficult to keep up with his classmates. Therefore, he receives extra lessons to keep up. Anderson lives together with his sister Elizabeth and brother Brandon in the house with his aunt Molly, so he can keep going to school in Kamahuri. His father passed away and his mother could not take care of her children anymore. “For me I still find reading difficult, but auntie paid my teacher extra fee to assist me in learning and I hope I will also catch up and perform better like the rest of the kids. Thank you, auntie for being patient with me. I don’t want to drop out of school.” When he was young, Anderson would say: "When I'm big and graduated at Makerere University I want to buy a goat for Aunt Rosette and a big cow for Aunt Stefanie, because they love us and give us a lot."
